Why is it important to collect information like age and sex and co-morbidities when doing a clinical audit?
And also other things like alcohol and drugs at the time of an accident.

To work out what fabulous clientele you have. For example, if you have lots of drink and drug related accidents and illnesses in people under the age of 50 within a certain radius; you're smack bang in the middle of Knackersville.
It also helps work out whether you're medical treatment is failing more in some areas than others, i.e. if you find lots of older people tend to peg it suddenly following treatment or admission.
Basically, it helps you suss out in which areas you're experiencing epic quantities of fail.
